- Saturday Training
- All SVs will need to be at the SV Training on Saturday:
14.00-15.00: SV Training for people who have not been an SV at CHI
before. This includes those people who have been to CHI
as an attendee, who have been SVs at other conferences,
and people for whom all of this is new.
15.00-16.00: SV Training for all SVs, including those who were in the
previous session.
- Planning meeting news
- We had the final planning meeting in LA last month. Some good news
came out of that: we are getting some more money to support some of
the meals. Some lunches and dinners will be covered by this.
Another topic which came out of this will give you something to
think about. The conference chairs have arranged to have special
discussion sessions with the lunch speakers during the session after
it. They felt the SVs should have the opportunity to talk to these
people, so we will arrange for sign up sheets at the conference, and
50 SVs can visit each of these three sessions. The speakers are
listed in the advance program: Alan Kay, Michael Kahn, and Mark
Swain.
- SV application closed
- No more SV applications are being accepted.
- Advance Program online
- Check out the Advance Program, but remember to wait
for the special SV
registration instructions.
- Do some homework
- You can read past articles from the
Students column of the SIGCHI
Bulletin to find out what it is like to be a student volunteer.
- Special student housing?
- There will not be special student housing, but SVs will be encouraged to use
the same hotel and to find other SVs as roommates. Student volunteers will be in
charge of booking their own rooms.
- What is this
lottery system all about?
- Find out about the proposed lottery system for assigning duties,
and why you should even care.
