The following messages have been sent to the announcements mailing list. If you have signed up over a month before the most recent announcement listed below, but you haven't received the message, then let us know, because something somewhere went wrong!

April Updates I (5 April 98)
  • Send in your list of 3 favorite tutorials to work
  • You can stop by Friday afternoon to see if we need help stuffing reg bags
  • Plan on attending the Saturday training sessions
  • No one under 21 will be served alcohol and it may be hard to find locations to smoke. Welcome to the USA. (^:

March Updates (4 March 98)
  • Accepted SVs must register soon or lose their spot
  • SVs should arrive in LA in time for a 14:00 Saturday training meeting
  • Plan on departing on Friday so as not to miss the Thursday night party
  • Use the SV mailing list to find roommates

February Update (5 February 98)
News on the upcoming planning meeting, a reminder to contact the SV chairs as a pair at chi98-students@acm.org and not individually, advice on starting the visa process, and some housing strategy tips.

January Update (5 January 98)
Not much news for the new year yet.

December Update (3 December 97)
A note covering several items:
  • results of our housing poll (we will help some but SVs still have to find their own roommates and book their own rooms)
  • deadlines for registration (the special procedure for SV conference registration is coming, and SVs will have until 1 February to sign up for the conference)
  • some hints for arrival times (Saturday, 18 April)

Accepted and Waiting List Updates (18 November 97)
List of the accepted SV's to date, and the 100+ members of the waiting list.

Housing (3 November 97)
A short history on special housing for students and a request for feedback on whether any is needed for 98. It turns out that most students arrange their own housing and the conference-organized facilities are rarely used.

Lottery System (11 September 97)
More on the proposed lottery system. Offically reached capacity of 150 volunteers. Waiting list started.

September Update (4 September 97)
A new lottery process for assigning jobs during the conference is proposed.

August Note (1 August 97)
Introducing the new SV HQ, update on how well the Summer Operations Meeting went, and a note about SV registrations approaching two-thirds of maximum already.
